Kasey Welch

Captain, US Army, Skillbridge Intern, September 2024-January 2025

Captain Welch is an active-duty Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army. She earned her commissioning through Boston University ROTC in 2020 and graduated with a BA in International Relations, Summa Cum Laude, with departmental honors, and as a distinguished military graduate. After graduation, she was stationed with the 319th Intelligence and Electronic Warfare Battalion at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.

At the 319th IEW BN (DIV), Kasey served briefly on battalion staff before serving as a detachment executive officer, including deploying most of her unit to Poland with the 82nd Airborne Division in support of Operation Assure, Deter, and Reinforce in January 2022. In 2023, she was selected to serve as the targeting OIC, and platoon leader for the battalion’s Targeting, ISR Assessment, and Open-Source Intelligence cells. Upon the conclusion of her PL time, she was deployed to eastern Poland as the 82nd ABN DIV DTAC deputy intelligence officer, supporting international aid flows to Ukraine. Upon return, she served as her battalion’s future operations and plans officer. She is qualified as a basic airborne parachutist and information collection planner.

Kasey is pursuing her master’s degree from National Intelligence University, studying the applications of data science in tactical intelligence. She has interned or researched for the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), National Defense University, and the Wilson Center.

Kasey is looking forward to transitioning to the Army Reserves, pursuing graduate studies at the UChicago Committee on International Relations, and a civilian position in intelligence.
