The accomplishments of University of Chicago veterans contribute to the greater eminence of the University, a place where the world’s greatest thinkers shape and define fields through rigorous inquiry. The University has a strong legacy of accomplished veterans who have served the University as senior leaders, faculty, and staff.

Here, veterans are both acknowledged for their service and supported in their growth as students, researchers, and leaders. Veterans and military-affiliated individuals are welcomed into a unique collegial atmosphere, where an abiding commitment to free expression allows the best ideas to prevail. Diverse perspectives contribute to the classroom, where ideas are shared and debate and discussion are encouraged.

Outreach and Recruitment

The University is an affirmative action employer and takes proactive steps to ensure equal opportunity in hiring and promotional opportunities to protected veterans.

All University positions are posted on IllinoisJobLink.com to ensure visibility to veterans.  Positions are also distributed to the State of Illinois’ one-stop career centers, and community outreach organizations that serve veterans.  University recruiters also attend job fairs for veterans, such as RecruitMilitary events.

More information and listing for open positions are located at the University’s Job Opportunities page.

Skills and Experience

Veterans possess valued competencies, skills, and global experience.  The VA has developed a skills translator and the U.S. Department of Labor has developed this military crosswalk search tool to assist you in communicating how your military experience meets position requirements.
